Jacob's Registration and 1st Day of School-3rd Grade

Jacob does well at school, but doesn't enjoy it. And after a rough go with the second half of school last year, it was weird to hear Jacob talking about how excited he was to start 3rd grade.  Usually he dreads starting a new school year and wants it to stay summer vacation forever. What could cause such a change in a boy? Organized sports.  3rd grade means flag football and little league basketball...but mostly flag football.

On registration day he went to sign up for flag football, meeting his teacher and dropping of his school supplies was just something else to do while he was there.   JK...sort of. He was actually pretty excited about his teacher this year, she is after all his cousin (2nd cousin through marriage but who's counting). Plus he had a couple of his good friends in his class, which he was really missing last year. He got to pick out his desk, put his supplies away, check out the classroom, and learn where to line up.

Unfortunately on the first day of school he was sick, like barfing his guts out sick. He was so disappointed to miss his first day, but thankfully he felt completely better before dinner that night. And was able to go on the 2nd day.

Since Katelyn has to be to school so early this year, the kids take the bus. I don't like it.  I feel like they have to leave way too early, but they both love it. Katelyn doesn't trust me to get her there on time :) and Jacob thinks it is social hour. I begged him to let me drive him on his first day of school, but he begged to ride the bus...of course, he won out. That means I don't have any pictures of him walking up to the school or waiting in line with his friends. When I told him we would be missing those pictures, he hopped on his bike and waved bye as he rode away to the bus stop. It's a good thing he's so handsome!
