Baseball

At the end of the school year, they announced baseball sign ups.  I asked Jacob about it, but he wasn't interested.  When I questioned why, he said that he didn't want to have to go to all the practices and games and have it take up most of his summer. :)  My kids are funny that way....they don't like to be involved in many things because they like having their time to themselves. But it didn't take long for him to regret it. He soon discovered that all of his friends were in baseball, and he started playing it with the neighborhood kids in their backyards and loved it.  He never said it to me, but I knew he was wishing that he would have signed up. Then one day, one of his good buddies Owen Walker came by and asked if Jacob would like to fill in a on his team because one of the players broke his arm and would be out for the rest of the season. Jacob was so excited. He was able to play one game, and then we went away on our family vacation. And when we got back we found out that one of the games had been rained out so he was able to play in another.

In his first game, he hit the ball on the first pitch all 3 times.  He was able to get someone out on 1st, and he slid into every base :)  He was a natural and totally in his element.  In the second game, he hit every time and also got to play catcher, but he told me he didn't like it because he had to crouch down so much. It was so much fun to watch him and he looked so stinking adorable in all his gear.  Next year he is hoping to try his hand at pitching too since he will be in the minors.
